So who am I and what is my expertise?

Chilli

My name is Perveen Rajput and I own the very popular Rajput Indian Restaurant in the town of Harrogate, England. I had started off teaching Indian cookery to adults at local colleges armed only with what I had learnt from my mother. My pupils were so impressed with my cooking and the unique and tasty dishes I had introduced they told me to open my own restaurant.

Cinnamon

In due course I took the plunge from being only a housewife into the world of business and opened a small restaurant in Harrogate in 1992. Within days the news of my delicious food spread like wild fire and my authentic Indian food became the talk of the town. Over the next three years I had to extend the restaurant twice to accommodate my growing clientale.

Ginger

My basic principle is never to comprise the traditional methods and recipes that have been developed over generations. In every culture mothers' recipes and methods are always valued highly and I have remained faithful to this wisdom whilst blending with the times we live in. This belief has been central to my success.

Coriander

I have acquired a large fan base including many famous people, my favourite being Clarissa Dickson-Wright ,the well known TV cook and star of the popular TV cookery series Two Fat Ladies. She wrote, "Perveen is the best Indian cook in Britain"

Spilling the Beans by Clarissa Dickson Wright

In her recent autobiography "Spilling the Beans" which is a wonderfuul read, she wrote, "I also discovered the most fantastic Indian restaurant in Harrogate called Rajput where an elegant Indian woman lithe as a nautch dancer cooked fantastic food, I recommend it to you". I am greatly honoured.

My restaurant features every year in the highly respected Hardens Restaurant Guide of UK in which entry results only from diners writing in of their own free will.
